Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Narendra Modi government has brought unprecedented changes in the health sector in the last 10 years through various schemes. Inaugurating the newly constructed building of KK Patel and Madhuben K Patel Nursing College at Gozaria in Mehsana district of Gujarat, Mr Shah said many poor patients of the nearby villages will benefit from the increased facilities in this nursing college. He said that 60 crore citizens of the country are taking advantage of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

During the last 10 years, the number of AIIMS has increased from seven to 23. Mr. Shah, who is on a two-day visit to Gujarat, is also scheduled to attend several other events in Ahmedabad and Mehsana.

Earlier today, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah announced plans for a new policy aimed at the economic revival of Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS) that have been liquidated.

Addressing the Cooperatives Conference organised by the Gujarat State Co-operative Union at Science City in Ahmedabad, Mr Shah emphasised the government’s commitment to strengthening the cooperative infrastructure in the country by revitalising PACS. He also outlined the government’s ambitious goal of establishing a PACS in every panchayat across the country by 2029. Highlighting the government’s focus on the principle of Cooperation among Cooperatives, Mr Shah said that this initiative has led to an increase in cooperative deposits by 11 thousand crore rupees.

The event witnessed participation from over 4 thousand cooperative leaders representing 800 cooperatives from the state.
