The high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand experienced fresh snowfall yesterday, bringing cheers to the locals and tourists.
In Himachal Pradesh, the tribal district of Lahaul and Spiti and the higher reaches of Kinnaur, Kullu and mountain passes received fresh snowfall, causing a drop in mercury and creating chilly weather in adjoining valleys. The Lahaul valley, Rohtang Pass and other higher reaches were wrapped in a thin layer of white snow, presenting an enchanting look. The people in tribal areas reeled under intense cold conditions with mercury staying two to seven degrees below freezing point, while the mid and lower hills received light rains at isolated places.
In Uttarakhand, high-altitude areas of Badrinath saw rain and snowfall yesterday, bringing down temperatures in parts of Chamoli and Rudraprayag districts. Badrinath had also received light snowfall on Tuesday. There was light rain in Badrinath yesterday evening, while light snowfall resumed in the surrounding peaks.
