In Telangana, several districts received heavy to extremely heavy rainfall during the past 24 hours, flooding streams, lakes, and roads. Traffic diversions and emergency measures have been implemented at some places. Mulugu and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts bore the brunt, with officials placing the District Disaster Response Force (DDRF) on alert. Bejjur in Asifabad district recorded the highest 236.5 mm rainfall during the 24-hour rainfall till 3 AM, while Venkatapura in Mulugu district recorded 218.3mm rainfall during the same time. Very heavy rainfall has also been recorded in several other locations in districts like Bhadradri Kothagudem and Karimnagar.
Mulugu district collector Divakar TS urged the public to avoid venturing out, especially across bridges and highways with flowing floodwaters. Fishermen were advised to stay ashore. Traffic was disrupted following a temporary road over a stream, Ralla Vagu, in the district. People in vulnerable low-lying areas near the river Godavari have been asked to prepare for relocation, and amenities are being readied at rehabilitation centres. Residents in old, unsafe houses were also urged to move to safer places.
