Heavy Rains Wreck 14.36 Lakh Hectares of Crops in Maharashtra, Says State Agriculture Minister

The recent heavy rains have caused huge losses in 191 talukas of 29 districts of Maharashtra. The rains during this period have caused huge losses to kharif crops in more than 654 revenue areas. State Agriculture Minister Dattatryeya Bharane said that more than 14 lakh 36 thousand hectares of land have been affected in the state.

 

He added that the highest rainfall between August 15 and 20 has caused huge losses to agricultural crops. The report mentioned that Nanded district suffered the most, followed by Washim and Yavatmal. The minister informed that the Panchnama work started in the affected areas is in the final stage, and appropriate assistance will be provided to the farmers immediately. He added that the state government has assured that no farmer will be deprived of assistance, and it stands firmly with the farmers.
