Rainfall continues in Puducherry and Karaikal due to a low-pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy chaired a review meeting today with all concerned department heads to assess and discuss measures taken to mitigate its impact. The Chief Minister stated that according to reports, the system is likely to intensify and cross the coast between Parangipettai and Chennai, leading to heavy rainfall in Puducherry and Karaikal.
Mr. Rangasamy emphasized that emergency measures have been swiftly implemented to address potential flooding and other challenges. Two National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed for rescue and relief operations. Relief camps have been set up, and a 24/7 emergency operations center is functioning to coordinate efforts. To prevent waterlogging, 60 motor pumps have been installed across the region.
