In Bihar, the southwest monsoon is active over several parts of the state. Several parts like Aurangabad, Vaishali, Nawada and others have witnessed heavy rainfall. The Met Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall from 2nd August.
Akashvani Correspondent reports that in the past 24 hours, Rafiganj of Aurangabad received the highest precipitation in the state, which was more than 70 mm. Several parts of Patna, Purnea, Supaul, Nawada and Rohtas witnessed good rainfall. The continuous rainfall has given much-needed relief to paddy-growing farmers who have intensified transplantation of saplings. Due to the uneven pattern of the Monsoon this year, the state is also witnessing rain-deficient conditions. Due to continuous rain in catchment areas, major rivers like the Ganga, Gandak, Mahananda, and Kosi are showing rising trends.
