As heavy rain continues to lash various parts of Uttar Pradesh, more than 2.5 lakh population of 17 districts, including Baliya, Prayagraj, Varanasi and Badaun, are affected by the floods. Flood relief and rescue operations have intensified across the state. According to Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami, more than 3700 people are seeking shelter in relief camps at present. Relief materials are being delivered to the affected areas with the help of approximately 550 boats and motorboats.
Along with this, 980 flood posts are monitoring the situation in the affected areas. In view of the heavy rainfall and flood situation, schools were closed in Pilibhit, Raebareli and several other districts today. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is monitoring the situation and has directed divisional and district officials to remain on constant alert and make timely arrangements for food, water, health services, and shelter for the affected population.
