Heavy Rain in Telangana: CM Revanth Reddy Puts Officials on High Alert

In Telangana, following heavy rain in Hyderabad and other parts of the state last evening, State Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed district collectors and officials concerned to be on high alert. Speaking at a meeting with officials, he directed all departments to work in coordination and take relief measures in low-lying areas. In view of the IMD forecast that the state will witness rain in the next three days, the chief minister instructed the collectors to review the situation with the relevant departments and take precautions to avoid loss of life and property. The Chief Minister also directed that officials should be available round the clock in the districts and respond to any reports of distress quickly. The senior officials were told to review the situation with district collectors and disaster management teams should be quickly deployed for relief operations.

Meanwhile, Quthbullapur in the Medchal-Malkajgiri district received the highest amount of rainfall, over 151 mm, since last evening, while Shaikpet in Hyderabad received over 124 mm of rainfall within a span of a few hours. The downpour resulted in heavy traffic jams on main roads and inundation of several low-lying areas.
