Health and Family Welfare Minister Minister JP Nadda today said that the government has established one lakh 70 thousand Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the country, which are providing essential health facilities at the grassroots level. Addressing the 19th edition of FICCI’s annual healthcare conference- FICCI HEAL 2025 in New Delhi, Mr Nadda said that the 2.5 percent budget of the GDP has been allocated to the health sector, out of which 1.8 percent is currently being spent. He said that the government is laying special emphasis on reproductive health and child care resulting reduction in Neonatal Mortality Rate by 65 per cent.
Quoting the World Health Organization’s data, the Health Minister said that the incidence of Tuberculosis (TB) in India has declined by nearly 18 per cent, which is double the global average decline. He added that treatment initiation for TB now begins within 10 to 15 days of diagnosis, reflecting substantial improvement in early detection, care, and case management provided by the government.
