The Haryana State Election Commission has taken strict cognisance of the illegal display of posters, banners, flex boards and hoardings at various locations during the general and bye-elections to municipal bodies.
Secretary of the Commission Gaurav Kumar said this amounts to a violation of the Model Code of Conduct as well as the Haryana Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1989.
The Commission has directed all observers, police officials, expenditure observers and Deputy Commissioners of the concerned districts to carry out videography of such unauthorised displays within their jurisdictions so that appropriate action can be taken.
