Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Leads World Meditation Day Celebrations

In US, hundreds of people gathered in New York City and millions more joined online to celebrate the second World Meditation Day, led by spiritual leader Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. During the event, participants practised a 30-minute synchronised meditation intended to promote mental health and global calm.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar described meditation as an essential “mental hygiene” for modern life rather than a luxury, explaining that inner peace is the first step toward harmony in families and nations. The event also featured a major announcement of a new partnership with Gallup to track well-being across 140 countries.

With official recognition from the United Nations and numerous U.S. cities, the day highlighted meditation as a simple, secular tool to help people manage rising global stress and anxiety.
