The West Asia conflict entered its 35th day today with Iran and its allies continuing exchanges of fire with Israel and the United States, as strikes expanded beyond military targets to civilian and industrial infrastructure across the Gulf, raising concerns over global energy supplies and maritime security.
Saudi Arabia said its air defences intercepted and destroyed seven drones in the past few hours. The Saudi Press Agency, citing Defence Ministry spokesperson Brigadier General Turki Al-Malki, said the interceptions were carried out as part of efforts to safeguard the Kingdom’s security.
Meanwhile, Kuwait came under fresh aerial attack early today after drones struck the Mina Al Ahmadi refinery, one of the country’s key facilities operated by Kuwait National Petroleum Company under Kuwait Petroleum Corporation. The strike triggered fires in several operational units, prompting emergency response teams to activate containment plans. Kuwait Petroleum Corporation confirmed that no injuries were reported.
The corporation added that firefighting teams worked efficiently to prevent the flames from spreading and ensure operational safety. Kuwaiti air defences also intercepted multiple missiles and drones overnight, with explosions heard across parts of the capital resulting from successful interceptions. Authorities said air quality monitoring showed no negative environmental impact so far
