Polling for the by-election to the Umreth Assembly constituency in Gujarat concluded peacefully today, with a provisional voter turnout of approximately 54.42% recorded until 5:00 PM. The final figures are expected to rise slightly after the reconciliation of data from all centres.
A total of 6 candidates were in the fray, but the main fight was between Harshad Parmar from the BJP and Bhrigurajsinh Chauhan from the Congress. As many as 306 polling booths were set up across the area, and over 1,500 staff members were deployed to ensure smooth voting. The by-election was necessitated due to the death of two-time sitting MLA Govind Parmar.
