Gujarat govt to develop 500 villages as ‘Natural Farming Villages’

The Gujarat Government has announced plans to develop 500 villages with high agricultural potential as dedicated ‘Natural Farming Villages. Under this plan, large areas within these selected villages will be transitioned to chemical-free farming in phases.

Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani said that the state government will provide farmers in these villages with foundational training, technical guidance, and direct field support. These farming clusters will also be directly linked to market systems, allowing them to secure better prices for their chemical-free crops. This strategic move aims to promote sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation while ensuring the availability of pure and nutritious food for the public, he said.
