The negative comments and rumours being spread about the HPV vaccine to fight cervical cancer have been termed baseless by expert doctors of Gujarat Cancer Research Institute (GCRI). They have stressed that the vaccine is completely safe and is essential to protect daughters from deadly cancer.
Citing global evidence on the safety of this vaccine, the doctors have said that the Global Advisory Committee of the World Health Organization-WHO has clarified that there is no causal relationship between the HPV vaccine and infertility or other serious side effects. This vaccine has also been approved by prestigious institutions of the world, including the Food and Drug Administration-FDA of the United States. So far, more than 100 countries in the world, including Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada, have included this vaccine in their national programmes.
