Science and Technology Minister Dr Jitendra Singh has said that Green Jobs and Green Entrepreneurship are set to become the defining drivers of the Green Economy of the future, with sectors such as renewable energy, electric mobility and green fuels. He said this while addressing the valedictory session of the National Conference on Environmental Sustainability in the 21st Century: Science, Society and Solutions in New Delhi today. Referring to India’s growing green ecosystem, Dr Singh said that initiatives such as the National Green Hydrogen Mission, backed by an outlay of over 19 thousand crore rupees, are laying the foundation for clean industrial transformation. He noted that emerging technologies are enabling decarbonisation in key sectors like steel and cement, positioning the country at the forefront of the global green transition. The Minister asserted that the green transition will not only generate jobs but also accelerate India’s shift towards sustainable and low-carbon growth. Highlighting the emergence of new employment avenues, Dr Singh emphasised that the coming years will witness the expansion of green jobs across solar manufacturing, battery production, grid management and biofuels.
