Greater Noida Hosts World Boxing Cup Finals 2025 with 130 Boxers from 18 Countries

India is set to host the World Boxing Cup Finals from today until the 20th of this month at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida. The matches will begin at 2:00 PM.

This event is the final stage of the 2025 World Boxing Cup Series, after earlier stages in Brazil, Poland, and Kazakhstan. Around 130 boxers from 18 countries will compete, with the 8 best boxers of the year in each of the 20 categories taking part.

Hosts India will compete in all 20 categories and will feature top boxers like Minakshi Hooda, Nikhat Zareen, Jaismine Lamboria, and Saweety Boora. Saweety is returning after some time, as Lovlina Borgohain has withdrawn due to injury. India will also hope for medals in men’s boxing, with Abhinash Jamwal and Hitesh in action, who have won two medals each this year.

The opening ceremony held yesterday provided a captivating preview of the event’s grandeur and significance. It featured a striking lamp-lighting ritual and a march-past of all participating nations. The evening also presented a lively fusion of music and dance, beautifully celebrating India’s cultural richness, as the Games were officially declared open.

Boxing Federation of India President Ajay Singh expressed happiness about hosting the finals for the first time in India. He said the country’s boxing ranking has improved and expects a strong medal performance from the Indian team.
After hosting the World Championships in 2023, this is India’s first major international boxing event at home, showing the country’s growing presence in world boxing.
