In a major administrative development, the Grappling Federation of India has unanimously appointed Rajya Sabha MP from Himachal Pradesh, Professor Sikander Kumar, as its new Chairman. The Federation’s General Secretary, Subodh Kumar Yadav, has formally invited him to take charge of the position.

Professor Sikander Kumar’s extensive academic and administrative experience is expected to give a new direction to grappling at the national level. Recognised by United World Wrestling, grappling is considered a potential future Olympic discipline.

Professor Sikander Kumar has expressed gratitude to the Federation for entrusting him with the responsibility, while the sports fraternity has welcomed the move as a positive step for the future of Indian grappling.
