Govt working progressively in upgrading skills of tribal communities: Union Minister Jayant Choudhary

The Government today said that its approach for skill development aims to work on convergence, build on the capacity and to create an ecosystem for skilling that starts from schools.

Replying to the supplimentaries during the Question Hour in Lok Sabha, Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Choudhary said that this approach is determined by the National Education Policy-2020. He said that while several states have taken strides in the establishment of indigenous skill development institutions, there is no central scheme as such for the establishment of such institutions. The minister, however, said that under its various other schemes, it can provide support to any credible institution.

He further said that the government is working progressively in upgrading the skills of tribal communities and various other classes through its robust schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana and other programmes (PMKVY).
