Central Government has constituted the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal to adjudicate whether or not there is sufficient cause for declaring the Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Bhat faction) and Muslim Conference Jammu and Kashmir (Sumji faction) as unlawful associations. The tribunal consist of Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, Judge, High Court of Delhi.
Union Home Ministry had banned both the organisation as Unlawful Associations for a period of five years last month under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The Minstry had said that the organisations was involved in unlawful activities and supporting terrorist activities to separate Jammu and Kashmir from India.
