Govt of Tripura proposed total expenditure of 34,122.31 crore in 2026-27 State Budget

The Government of Tripura has proposed a total expenditure of ₹34,122.31 crore in the 2026-27 State Budget, which is about 5.55% higher than the previous year. To boost economic growth, ₹8,940.92 crore has been allocated for capital expenditure. The budget has projected a deficit of ₹240.72 crore. However, no new taxes have been proposed in the budget.
 
After a two-day break in the Tripura Legislative Assembly Budget Session, the State’s Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy presented the Budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the Assembly today.
 
While presenting the budget, the Finance Minister announced that ₹2,482.50 crore has been allocated for the health sector. Under this allocation, a Critical Care Block will be set up at the Khowai District Hospital, along with Trauma Care Centres at various locations. New Maternal and Child Health Wings will also be established. Additionally, Geriatric and Diabetic Care Units will be introduced at Agartala Government Medical College and Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital.
 
In the education sector, an allocation of ₹6,439.56 crore has been proposed. The budget also includes plans to construct new school buildings and establish the Tripura Government Technical University, the Tripura Government Women’s University, and the Tripura University of Health Sciences.
 
For agriculture and rural development, the government plans to set up new rural markets, Farmers’ Knowledge Centres, and an Agriculture Farm Machinery Training Institute.
 
In the technology sector, the budget proposes the establishment of a Cyber Security Operation Centre, the Tripura IT & Data Ecosystem Zone (TIDEZ), and an IT Park under the Agartala AI City project.
 
The budget also focuses on sports and infrastructure development, with plans to build new stadium galleries, synthetic football turfs, and several permanent bridges in rural areas.
 
It may be mentioned that the Budget Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly began on March 13 with the address of Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu.
