Govt Holds All-Party Meeting Ahead of Winter Session

The Government today held an all Party Meeting at the Parliament House Annexe ahead of the Winter Session of Parliament beginning tomorrow. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the meeting. The meeting was attended by 50 Leaders from 36 political parties. 
Speaking after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, the meeting was held in a positive atmosphere. He said, Government has appealed floor leaders of all political parties for cooperation during the Winter Session for smooth functioning of the two Houses. Mr Rijiju further informed that tentatively 14 items of legislative and other business will be taken up during this session. He stated that the Government is prepared and ready to discuss any other important issue on the floors of the Houses as per rules of both Houses.
Leaders of different political parties expressed their views on various issues likely to be raised by them during the Session and assured the Government to provide full co-operation.
Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha J P Nadda, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Ministers of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghwal and Dr L Murugan were present at the meeting. Congress leader Gourav Gogoi, DMK Leader Tiruchi Shiva, TMC leader Derek O Brien, Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav, JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha, TDP leader Lavu Shrikrishna Devarayalu, Shiv Sena leader Naresh Mhaske attended the meeting among others. 
The Winter Session will begin from tomorrow and continue till 19th December. The Session will provide a total of 15 sittings spread over a period of 19 days.
