The government today handed over a Letter of Interest (LOI) to the University of New South Wales, Australia, to set up its campus in India. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan handed over the LOI, along with his Australian counterpart Jason Clare, to the University on the sidelines of the 3rd Australia-India Education and Skills Council Meeting in New Delhi. In a social media post, Mr Pradhan informed that the University of New South Wales is a premier Australian university, which ranks top-20 globally in the QS World University Rankings.
The Minister added that fostering critical thinking in students and creating an AI-ready generation is a priority for the country. He reiterated the commitment of both sides to adding new dynamism to the India-Australia educational partnership, including collaborations between Higher Educational Institutions of both countries, joint research funding in areas of strategic importance, among others. Both Ministers also reviewed their cooperation in education, innovation and research and held meaningful discussions on further deepening engagements from Pre-school to PhD.
