212 Community Radio Stations set up in 5 years, informs Govt

A total of 212 new Community Radio Stations have been established with the support of the community radio movement during the last five years.

The government is implementing this scheme with an outlay of 50 crore rupees, which is designed to strengthen existing and new Community Radio Stations.

In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L Murugan said, out of the total new radio stations, 35 have been established in Uttar Pradesh.

Dr Murugan said, financial assistance has also been provided to 31 existing Community Radio Stations in the country during the last five years.
