In Chhattisgarh, nine Maoists surrendered in Gariaband district on Monday. Those who surrendered include a Maoist woman, Anju. Speaking to Akashvani News, Anju has appealed to other Maoists active in the Gariaband district to lay down their arms and surrender.
The Superintendent of Police of Gariaband district, Vedvrat Sirmour, has also appealed to Maoists active in the area to surrender, return to the mainstream of society, and avail the benefits of the rehabilitation policy of the State Government.
The Central Government has resolved to make the country, including Chhattisgarh, free from the Maoist problem by March this year. In Chhattisgarh, over the past two years, more than two thousand Maoists have surrendered their weapons and joined the mainstream.
