The Government has said that 926 One Stop Centres (OSCs) are operational across the country to support women in distress. Replying to a question in Lok Sabha today, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, said that more than 13 lakh women have been assisted in these centres. The Minister said that the Government gives the highest priority to ensuring the safety and security of women and has taken several legislative and policy interventions. She informed that under the Mission Shakti Scheme, over 15 thousand women help desks have been set up in police stations, of which more than 14 thousand are headed by women police officers.
