Ports, Shipping and Waterways Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that India’s maritime sector remains robust and efficient, even in the face of global challenges. The Minister added that the government remains committed to protecting trade interests by all means possible and ensuring that the supply chain remains sustainable without being affected by geopolitical situations.
Chairing a high-level review meeting, Mr Sonowal said that timely intervention and continuous monitoring have led to the clearance of nearly 90% of backlog cargo across major ports amid the West Asia crisis. The Minister said that coordinated and proactive measures ensured the rapid stabilisation of port operations with minimal impact on trade.
