Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh, accompanied by Union Coal Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy, has inaugurated the country’s largest integrated inland Rainbow Trout farm in Ranga Reddy district in Telangana. A startup, SmartGreen Aquaculture, has set up the cold-water species, which will thrive in the warm climate of the Deccan Plateau, using advanced engineering, at an estimated investment to a tune of 50 crore rupees. Normally, trout farming in India has been restricted to the high-altitude, cold-water regions of the Himalayas. Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Ranjan Singh assured all assistance for the export of Trout fish through the National Fisheries Development Board.
