Government has disbursed over ₹4 lakh crore rupees since inception of PM-KISAN scheme, says MoS Ramnath Thakur

The government has disbursed over four lakh crore rupees through 21 instalments since the inception of the PM-KISAN scheme. Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Ramnath Thakur said this in a written reply to a Question in the Lok Sabha today. He said the PM-KISAN scheme is a central sector scheme launched in February 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to supplement the financial needs of farmers. He said, under the scheme, a financial benefit of six thousand rupees per year is transferred in three equal instalments.

The Minister said that a farmer-centric digital infrastructure has ensured that the benefits of the scheme reach all the farmers across the country without the involvement of any intermediaries. Mr Thakur informed that all payments under the scheme are made through the Direct Benefit Transfer mechanism into Aadhaar-seeded bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
