Government has extended the National PNG Drive 2.0 till 30th June 2026 to sustain momentum in PNG expansion across the country. It has also directed city gas distribution entities to speed up domestic PNG connections. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that during the month of March, more than 3.1 Lakh connections, including domestic, commercial, hostel, mess and canteen, have been gasified. In addition, more than 2.7 Lakh new connections have been made and are being gasified. The Ministry also informed that more than 50 lakh domestic LPG cylinders have been delivered daily on average since the first of March. It said that over 3.2 lakh 5 Kg FTL cylinders have been sold to migrant labourers since the 23rd of this month.
Government further assured that the country has sufficient stock of petrol, diesel, LPG, and PNG. In order to curb rumours, it has urged states and union territories to disseminate correct information through press briefings.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said that all Indian seafarers in the region are safe; no incident involving Indian-flagged vessels has been reported in the past 24 hours. It is informed that DG Shipping has facilitated the safe repatriation of over 959 Indian seafarers so far, including 9 in the last 24 hours. The Ministry said that Port operations across India are normal and no congestion has been reported.
The Ministry of External Affairs said that over 5.72 lakh passengers have returned to the country since February 28. The Missions and Posts across the region are functioning round-the-clock, operating 24×7 helplines and maintaining regular contact with the Indian community, associations, organisations and companies.
