The Government has debunked social media posts claiming that government has removed food and education from the CPI (Consumer Price Index) inflation calculation. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) informed that the claims are fake. The Unit added that Food and education continue to remain core components of the CPI basket. The government has urged the citizens to always rely on official sources for accurate information and to verify news before sharing them. PIB further asked the citizens to report suspicious content related to the Government by mailing them to factcheck@pib.gov.in
