Global Leaders Extend Warm Diwali Wishes Celebrating Hope and Light

As Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated with joy across the globe, leaders from several nations have joined in extending warm wishes, highlighting the festival’s universal themes of hope, renewal, and the triumph of light over darkness.
 
 
Leaders from Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore shared greetings today, recognizing Diwali’s significance in promoting peace and togetherness across cultures.
 
 
In the United Kingdom, Prime Minister Keir Starmer marked the occasion by recalling his recent visit to India, where he lit a diya in Mumbai as a symbol of devotion and renewed bonds. Posting on social media, Starmer wrote, “Wishing Hindus, Jains and Sikhs across Britain a joyful and peaceful Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas… Let’s keep building a Britain where everyone can look ahead with hope.” He also extended Diwali greetings in Hindi during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 9.
 
 
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs joined the chorus of global goodwill, wishing, “May light always prevail,” in its Diwali message.
 
 
In Pakistan, top leaders acknowledged the festival with messages of inclusion and respect. According to Radio Pakistan, President Asif Ali Zardari said Diwali reminds us of the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s constitutional commitment to equal rights and religious freedom for all citizens.
 
 
In a display of cultural appreciation, diplomatic missions across New Delhi joined in the Diwali celebrations , extending festive greetings to the people of India. Embassies from Finland, Israel, Austria, Brazil, Switzerland, and the European Union marked the occasion with joy and color. 
 
 
Diwali continues to serve as a powerful reminder of shared human values, bringing together people of diverse backgrounds in celebration of light, knowledge, and harmony.
