German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to Visit India for Two Days, Highlighting Strategic and Cultural Tie

Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz, will be on a two-day visit to India from the 12th of this month. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, during the Gujarat leg of his visit, Mr Merz will pay homage at Sabarmati Ashram and later participate in the International Kite Festival, reflecting the cultural ties between the two countries. Mr Merz will also hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Mahatma Mandir. Later in the day, the German Chancellor will visit Dandi Kutir, a museum dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi’s life and India’s freedom movement.

On the second day, Mr Merz will travel to Bengaluru, where he will visit Bosch’s Adugodi campus, highlighting Indo-German collaboration in manufacturing and innovation. He will also visit the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering showcasing country’s advancements in cutting-edge research and technology. The Ministry highlighted that the visit is expected to further deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations, reinforcing cooperation across economic, technological, and people-to-people domains.
