Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the 64th National Exhibition of Art by the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi. During his address, Mr Shekhawat called the exhibition not just a display of artworks, but a vibrant cultural platform showcasing the talent of emerging and established artists from across the country. He remarked that it beautifully brings together contemporary, traditional, folk, and tribal art, reflecting the diversity and richness of Indian artistic expression.
For the first time, award-winning artworks at this year’s Exhibition will be available for sale. Mr Shekhawat noted that the move promotes self-reliance among artists and strengthens India’s creative economy. He added that in today’s time, where art and culture are increasingly interlinked with economic development, such initiatives are both timely and visionary. The Culture Minister also called for empowering Indian artists by connecting their work to sustainable opportunities.
