After several days of dry weather and the official withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from Maharashtra, a fresh spell of thunderstorms is expected to hit parts of the state starting 15th of this month. According to the India Meteorological Department, the weather conditions are expected to continue till 18 October. Cloudy skies and thunderstorm activity are likely to affect Vidarbha, Marathwada, and parts of Madhya Maharashtra, especially during the afternoons and evenings.
The highest intensity and likelihood of thunderstorms are expected in Vidarbha and Marathwada, where widespread stormy conditions are predicted during this period. In contrast, Khandesh and other regions of Madhya Maharashtra may experience isolated thunderstorms with less intensity. In view of the expected weather conditions, the Agriculture Department has issued an advisory urging farmers to plan accordingly. Farmers are advised to take necessary measures to protect harvested crops from heavy rain and strong winds, and to stay updated with local weather alerts.
