Former Tennis Player Leander Paes joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of senior party leaders, including Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Sukhanta Majumdar at the party headquarters in New Delhi today. Welcoming Paes into the party, Mr Rijiju termed his entry into the BJP as historic.
He said the former tennis player joined the BJP after being inspired by the work of the Narendra Modi-led government over the last 12 years in the field of sports. On the occasion, Mr Paes thanked Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Party President Nitin Nabin and said that it’s a big day of his life. Lauding the Kehlo India Movement and TOPS scheme, Mr Paes said that this is a big opportunity for him to serve sports and youth.
