Focus on low & middle-income groups helped economy grow at faster pace: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that focusing on low and middle-income groups has helped the economy grow at a faster pace. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw has said that focus on low and middle-income groups with an impetus to MSMEs and farmers has helped holistic growth of all sectors thereby ensuring fast-paced economic growth.

 

Addressing media persons in Bengaluru today, the minister said that the middle class has benefitted from drastic tax cuts, MSMEs are having better credit flow, their compliances are simplified, farmers are getting three times more MSPs for their crops and massive investments in infrastructure are creating jobs with fast economic growth generating opportunities.

 

He informed that investment during UPA tenure was just 2.5 lakh crore and today it stands at 15 lakh crore. The debt ratio is 56 percent of the GDP, fiscal deficit is just 4.4 percent and inflation is under control.
