In Odisha, at least five persons, including four women, were killed and more than 40 others injured in a tragic road accident in Odisha’s Nayagarh district late last night. The accident took place in Hanuman Ghati, when a private tourist bus carrying around 60 passengers from Berhampur to Harishankar lost control, rammed into a roadside rock and overturned.
The impact of the crash was severe, with several passengers thrown out of the vehicle and over 10 people trapped under the mangled bus. On receiving information, police teams along with fire services and emergency personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation. Gas cutters were used to extricate those trapped. The injured were first taken to the Daspalla Community Health Centre. Around 15 critically injured persons have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
