First phase of Census-2027 to begin tomorrow; Major tax & banking reforms also to come into effect

The first phase of Census-2027 will begin tomorrow. The Census-2027 will be the world’s largest census. For the first time, the Census will be conducted digitally, and the option of Self-Enumeration will also be available. Self-enumeration will begin from tomorrow till 15th April, and House Listing and Housing Census will be conducted for a month from 16th April to 15th May in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, NDMC area and Delhi Cantonment Board, Goa, Karnataka, Lakshadweep, Mizoram, Odisha, and Sikkim. Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, and Haryana will start Houselisting Census from 1st May to 30th May, with a period of self-Enumeration from 16th to 30th April. Self-Enumeration Period for areas under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Rajasthan and Jharkhand is 1 May to 15 May. Self-Enumeration is a secure web-based facility through which respondents can enter their information online in 16 languages before the door-to-door survey. Enumerators will collect and submit data directly through the Mobile App, using their smartphones. The government has made all necessary provisions to ensure data security. More than three million enumerators, supervisors, and other officials will be involved in Census 2027 across the country. Phase II of the census, which is Population Enumeration, will be conducted during February next year. The Centre has approved an outlay of over 11,718 crore rupees for Census 2027.
