The first edition of the Shillong International Film Festival concluded today at the State Convention Centre in Shillong, marking a significant step towards promoting cinema in the Northeast. The three-day festival was held from March 25th to 27th. The event opened with the screening of the acclaimed Khasi film “Ha Lyngkha Bneng”, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Pradip Kurbah. The festival served as a platform for independent cinema from across the Northeast, showcasing indigenous stories and socially relevant themes. Interactive sessions held after film screenings allowed audiences to engage directly with filmmakers.

Over the three days, the festival featured film screenings, masterclasses, student film competitions, and technology exhibitions, drawing participation from artists, students, and cinema enthusiasts.
