First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed with the concerned authorities at three places against an individual fraudulently impersonating the Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The impersonator has been contacting officials through unsolicited phone calls with the intent of deceitfully obtaining sensitive information.

In a statement, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has advised all stakeholders to safeguard against such fraudulent activities. Stakeholders have been advised to verify authenticity in case of any suspicious calls claiming to be from the Secretary. Any such incidents should immediately be reported to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at www.cybercrime.gov.in or through the toll-free helpline number 1930.
