Fire reported at Borouge petrochemicals plant in UAE after attack interception

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates have reported a fire at a petrochemicals plant following an attack today. Officials in Abu Dhabi said emergency teams responded to multiple fire incidents at the Borouge petrochemicals facility.

According to authorities, the fires were caused by falling debris after air defence systems intercepted incoming threats. Production at the plant has been temporarily halted due to the incident. The facility is located in Ruwais, near the UAE’s western border with Saudi Arabia. The Borouge plant is a joint venture of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Borealis.
