Fifth Khelo India University Games Conclude in Jaipur; Chandigarh University Tops Medal Tally

The fifth edition of the Khelo India University Games concluded today with a grand ceremony held in Jaipur. Chandigarh University from Punjab topped the medal tally. Lovely Professional University, also from Punjab, secured second place, while Guru Nanak Dev University stood third. During the closing ceremony, the champion university along with the first and second runner-up universities, were felicitated with trophies.
 
 
Addressing the programme, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, said that youth and sports will play a crucial role in building a developed India. She emphasized that sports can project India’s soft power on the global stage. Ms. Khadse added that events like Khelo India give young athletes an opportunity to learn about different states and cultures, and truly serve as a powerful medium of cultural exchange.
 
 
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan Prem Chand Bairwa said that Khelo India Games have helped identify numerous national and international sporting talents. On the occasion, the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs of Rajasthan , Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, said that since the formation of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre, extensive efforts have been made to promote sports, and the results are now becoming visible. He affirmed that the government is leaving no stone unturned to support sports and sportspersons.
