Farmers thank PM Modi for resisting foreign pressure in trade negotiations and protecting India’s agricultural interests

Farmers from across the country have thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his bold decision in trade agreements despite foreign pressure.

A large gathering of farmer organisation leaders and cultivators met with Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi yesterday to express gratitude and support for government’s decisive action to protect farmers’ interests.

National President of the Indian Farmer Chaudhary Charan Singh Organisation, Dharmendra Choudhary said that Prime Minister Modi’s decision will not only provide relief to millions of food providers but also bolster the self-reliance of the nation’s agriculture and rural sectors.

Meanwhile, Virendra Lohan of the Chhattisgarh Youth Progressive Farmers’ Association said that the courageous decision not to allow American companies to enter the country’s agriculture and dairy sectors is echoing in every field, village, and cowshed.

During an interaction, Mr Chouhan reiterated that the government will soon introduce a new law against those producing fake fertilisers and chemicals. He said this while interacting with farmer organisation leaders and cultivators from across the country in New Delhi.

Mentioning about digital payment of insurance amounts being disbursed to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana yesterday, the Minister said that various schemes for farmers’ welfare are being advanced with priority.

Highlighting the important role of farmers, Mr Chouhan said that the farmers work day and night, not just to feed India, but to feed the world. He further added that the farmer is both the provider and the giver of life, and serving farmers is worship of God, and there is no greater worship than this.
