Union Minister of State for MSME, Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje underscored the need of self-reliance in the production of oil seeds, pulses and silk. She was speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebration of National Silkworm Seed Organisation in Bengaluru today.
The Minister called upon the farmers, scientists and entrepreneurs to work towards making India a self-reliant nation in seeds, pulses and silk production. She said, the country achieved self-sufficiency in the production of rice, milk, fruit and vegetables and the same should be replicated in other areas also. She called upon the Silkworm Seed Organisation to help silk farmers and entrepreneurs to produce quality silkworm seeds, mulberry and silk products to double their income.
