In a significant shake-up in Sri Lanka’s cricket administration, former Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Eran Wickramaratne has been appointed Chairman of a newly formed Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Transformation Committee.
The nine-member panel includes former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara, as well as ex-cricketer Roshan Mahanama. The development follows the resignation of SLC President Shammi Silva and the Executive Committee, which was accepted by Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage.
According to the Sports Ministry, the move has brought SLC under direct government control, invoking provisions of the Sports Law No. 25 of 1973. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports will oversee cricket administration on an interim basis.
