Environment and Water Challenges Take Centre Stage in Rajya Sabha

The Rajya Sabha has taken up a discussion on the working of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Initiating the discussion, Ghanshyam Tiwari of BJP said, since ancient times, India’s culture has been attached with nature and environment.
 
He lauded the efforts of the Government taken to protect the environment, including increasing the forest cover.
 
Stressing that Government must focus on water security, Ayodhya Rami Reddy Alla of YSRCP said that 18 per cent of world population and only four per cent of usable fresh water, NITI Aayog has projected a water crisis affecting 60 crore people in the country. He said, water security is inseparable from environmental governance.
