England booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 5-0 win over the home team, Latvia, in the qualifiers today in Riga. Captain Harry Kane scored twice to lead the dominant victory. Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in the 26th minute, and Kane then struck twice before halftime.
Latvia conceded an own goal in the 58th minute, and substitute Eberechi Eze added a late fifth to complete the rout. With six wins in six games, England top Group K with 18 points – seven ahead of Albania – securing qualification with two matches to spare. In other matches, Serbia beat Andorra 3-1, Italy defeated Israel 3-0, and Spain thrashed Bulgaria 4-0. Portugal were held 2-2 by Hungary after a late equaliser from Dominik Szoboszlai.
