Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan has said that by empowering a skilled workforce, India is building not only its own economic future but also contributing to the world.
Addressing the maiden convocation of Ratan Tata Maharashtra State Skills University in Mumbai, he termed the occasion a milestone in India’s journey to becoming a global hub of skilled human resources. He urged students to contribute to nation-building and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, stressing that degrees must lead to employability.
The Vice President also highlighted the need to stay updated with emerging technologies like AI and to develop soft skills. Vice President Radhakrishnan, who has previously served as the Governor of Maharashtra, is on his maiden visit to the state after assuming charge of the Vice Presidency.
On the occasion, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar also addressed the gathering and emphasised the importance of skill development, innovation and lifelong learning.
The Vice President also presented Gold medals to meritorious students and felicitated three Industrial Training Institutions for their contribution to skilling youth. A “Say No to Drugs” campaign was also launched during the event.
