Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme receives unprecedented response, says Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Minister for Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw today said Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme has received unprecedented response from domestic as well as international industry. Briefing media in New Delhi, the Minister said the government has received investment applications worth one lakh 15 thousand and 351 crore rupees. The Union Minister said that against a target of 59 thousand 350 crore rupees investment, applications worth over one lakh 15 thousand were received. Besides, against a production target of 4 lakh 56 thousand and 500 crore rupees, production estimates of over 10 lakh crore rupees have been received. The scheme is projected to create 1 lakh 41 thousands direct jobs well above the target of 91 thousands 600 and a manifold number of indirect jobs, demonstrating its potential to drive large-scale employment.
Expressing happiness over the enthusiastic response, Mr Vaishnaw urged states to seize this opportunity and develop a framework for electronics manufacturing in their regions. The huge response will also translate into more direct and indirect jobs for the people of the country. The application window under ECMS was open for an initial period of three months, starting from 1st May this year. It was subsequently extended till 30th September.
